I am a Republican who cares about preserving history. It should NEVER be erased. As an American, I have the right to know and learn about the various historical events that took place in my own country. This is precisely why I decry the recent acts by liberal activists, with respect to their tearing down of confederate monuments.

If these monuments and memorials are removed, how are we supposed to remember our own country’s history? Have you no shame?

Look, I understand that the overwhelming majority of these confederate monuments are symbolic of a time period filled with pro-slavery sentiment and racism. I understand this. If you are a black American, I understand that seeing these monuments on a daily basis can be demoralizing. I get it, but in the name of preserving history, they must stand.

If only we had a way to imprint the stories and details of historical events on some sort of physical or digital medium, then I would understand the rationale of removing such statues, but such a thing does not yet exist in 2020.

Therefore, I plead with all the liberal activists out there to help preserve our statues, until we have a way to store this information in other ways. Please stop erasing our history.

The toppled statue was of Confederate Gen. Williams Carter Wickham. Since his statue is no longer standing, there is literally no way for us to remember any details about him or how he shaped our American history. It is forever lost in oblivion.
