The year is 2213 and MAGIC, similar to that conceptualized in popular movies from the 2000s, has been invented.

Pakistan is the leading nation of offensive spells. America is the leading nation of defensive spells. There has never been a war between nations where magic was used, until now.

Pakistan starts a conflict with the USA by using an offensive spell on ~ 100,000 Texans. Here are the effects of the spell:

  • 7 days after being infected, the user’s eyes turn into its own little weapon. ANY person who looks into the subject’s eyes for even a split second will die instantly.
  • Those subjected to this offensive spell will experience no harm, just those who look into their eyes
  • This spell wears off after 1 year

The USA swiftly develops (within 24 hours) a defensive spell to counteract the effects of Pakistan’s offensive spell.

The Federal Government then proceeds to rapidly distribute the defensive countermeasure (in the form of two tablets) to the infected Texans.

Some Americans refuse to take the tablets, believing that the Government can’t force them to ingest anything against their will.

The Federal argument argues that if they don’t take the tablets, after the 7-day-period, Americans who accidentally look into their eyes will die. Still, some Texans refuse to take the tablets.

The Federal Government then says that they don’t have to take the tablet if they agree to be quarantined in a federal solitary confinement facility for 1 year.

This offer, some Texans also refuse.

If you were President, what would you do?

The above are the results from the poll that I administered in my political group – Civil Political Discourse 🇺🇸

Facebook interviewed me personally back in October, 2020, and commended me for being able to host healthy, political conversations. My group is sorely lacking a robust Democratic/Progressive presence, so if you fall on the left side of the isle, I doubly encourage you to join. That being said, we welcome members of any political affiliation.

If you’re interested in seeing the rest of the commentary or participating in future thought experiments, I invite you to join my group.
